A few heat pump checks before you head away

Packing the car, finding the chargers and making sure someone has the keys usually take priority before a holiday. Your heat pump only needs a few minutes of attention too.

Check old timers

Look through the remote and app for schedules you no longer need. A winter morning timer can keep runni

ng even when everyone is away.

Choose settings that suit anyone staying in the house, pets and any other property needs. Do not assume the app and remote always show every schedule in the same place.

Test remote access

If you want to use WiFi control before you come home, check it works before leaving. Switching off the unit’s power will generally remove that remote access.

Follow the manufacturer’s advice for longer periods away rather than using a blanket rule about switching off at the board.

Leave the airflow clear

Check the accessible filters and keep bags or stored items away from indoor grilles. Outside, make sure garden furniture and holiday gear have not ended up against the unit.

Do not wrap an operating unit in a makeshift cover. It needs its specified clearances and airflow.

Deal with known problems first

If the unit is leaking indoors, showing a fault or making a new noise, get advice before relying on unattended operation.
