Check your cooling before the first hot night

Your heat pump has been on heating for months. Before the first hot night, give it a try on cooling so you have time to sort out anything unusual.

Pick a warm day

Select cooling mode and a target below the room temperature. Close the windows in the space you are cooling and give it time to respond.

A cold day is not a useful test of summer cooling. Follow the operating guidance for your model.

Check the basics first

Look at the filters and make sure furniture is not blocking the airflow. Outside, keep plants and stored items clear of the unit.

With a ducted system, check your selected zones. If one room gets strong afternoon sun, note whether that is the only room struggling or whether the whole system feels different.

Watch for changes

Does the room become comfortable? Is there a new noise, persistent smell, error code or water dripping indoors?

Take a photo or short video if you can. You do not need to work out the cause before contacting us.

Does it need more gas

Poor cooling does not automatically mean low refrigerant. There are several possible causes, and a sound sealed system should not need routine gas top ups. We need to check why performance has changed.

Tell us the model, settings and how long it ran. If the issue only happens late in the afternoon or after several hours, mention that too. Those details help us plan the right checks.
